Paramount Might Be the “Least Bad” Option… And That’s Exactly Why It Works
With bids in for the WBD sale, Paramount-Skydance is looking more and more like the frontrunner… and honestly, after running every possible scenario, I’m starting to believe they might be the least bad outcome if a sale actually happens.
They’re the only buyer that wouldn’t completely detonate the ecosystem or gut the Studios on day one. And if they meet WBD’s rumored $30/share target, they offer something rare in these mergers.
Stability.
A transition that doesn’t rewrite the entire DNA of the studio. A buyer who wants to build, not bulldoze.
And here’s the real ball buster. If Paramount doesn’t meet that price, WBD could still walk away and proceed with their original plan to split into Cable Media and Streaming/Film next year. No sale, no chaos, no new overlords.
As someone who doesn’t want WBD sold in the first place, I’d love that outcome. But if a sale is unavoidable? Paramount is the only option that keeps the machine running without throwing the entire industry into a tailspin.
