Some things you might not know about me...
I’ve been a die hard Star Wars fan since I was about eight or nine years old, sometime in the mid-’90s.
Star Wars was my first real pop culture love the one that started it all.
Sure, I’ve flirted with other franchises like Dragon Ball, DC, Halo, and Marvel… and they all hold a special place on my list… but Star Wars will always sit on the throne... well, except for about 98% of Disney’s Star Wars. (Yeah, I said it.)
When the comic book movie boom hit, I was captivated by what Zack Snyder built with Man of Steel.
To this day, it remains my favorite superhero film. I defended it relentlessly against unfair criticism and joined the charge for the Snyder Cut before it became the huge hashtag phenomenon it became.
During the darker years of the DCEU, I interviewed several passionate voices in the community, helping amplify the message that would eventually become a that movement.
After the cut was announced, I helped organize two major events called #UsUnited to keep that spirit alive and raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Those moments were about more than fandom… they were about people uniting for something bigger.
But by late 2022, I decided to step away from the Snyder fandom. The community I once fought beside had changed.
What was once about artistic passion and creative integrity had morphed into entitlement and toxicity.

My podcasting journey started back in 2016, when a few friends and I launched a show called The Remote Control, later changed to Bridging the Geekdoms.
It was an audio only podcast, and over 150+ episodes later, I took it to YouTube, revamped it, and brought in a second new co-host. We ran strong for a couple more years until I realized it was time to create something that reflected me better.
Uncensored, unfiltered, and unapologetically honest.
That’s when Slav’s Free Talk was born.
A channel where I could talk about everything pop culture… the good, the bad, and the absolutely insane, without a mute button or corporate leash.
Over time, I noticed the audience gravitated toward my DC content, so that’s where I leaned in. The fans spoke, and I listened.
I also once hosted a Star Wars podcast called Shootin’ the Sith. It was fun but let’s be real, Star Wars content is a crowded galaxy. Unless you bring something fresh and inventive, you’re just another X-wing in the hangar.
Looking back, this entire journey has been a wild, geeky adventure. I’ve met so many amazing creators, fans, and friends along the way. Talking about movies, comics, and all things nerdy isn’t just a hobby for me… it’s a passion that keeps me fired up every day.
So whether you’ve been here since the Bridging the Geekdoms days or just discovered Slav’s Free Talk... welcome aboard.
Grab your lightsaber, cape, or Infinity Gauntlet and let’s keep talking pop culture, one rant at a time.
