RUMOR: Xbox Might Jack Up Prices AGAIN | And This Time It’s Because They Didn’t Plan Ahead
Okay, let’s talk about an infuriating rumor that has been swirling around right now…
Because if this turns out to be true, Xbox fans are about to get slapped with yet another price increase.
Yes. Again. Right before Christmas.
And the reason? Not innovation. Not upgrades. Not new features.
Nope
A global RAM scramble that Xbox apparently walked face first into without a plan.
The RAM War Nobody Saw Coming… Except, apparently, everyone but Xbox
A few months back, OpenAI reportedly locked down massive long term supply deals with Samsung and SK Hynix for DRAM wafers. We’re talking almost a million semiconductor wafers in 2029 alone that’s something like 40% of total DRAM output being claimed for AI data centers.
That created a global panic buying frenzy in the memory industry.
PC companies, console companies, storage suppliers… really everyone grabbed whatever RAM they could get their hands on.
And according to the latest leaks from Moore’s Law Is Dead, this whole thing caught Samsung and SK Hynix off guard too as neither knew the other was selling gigantic chunks of supply to OpenAI.
Now retailers are being told they might not see new RAM shipments until late 2026.
Some suppliers are literally trying to buy RAM back from stores just to meet commitments.
**And who’s getting hit the hardest?
Spoiler: Xbox.**
Multiple sources allegedly told Moore’s Law Is Dead that Microsoft “didn’t plan ahead at all.”
Meanwhile, Sony apparently bought RAM while it was cheap and stocked up like a doomsday prepper.
So PlayStation? They’re chillin out max relaxin all cool.
They’re even dropping $100 off PS5 for Black Friday because they can actually afford to.
Xbox?
According to some insiders, Microsoft is warning partners that RAM shortages will hit Xbox consoles “very soon.” And that leaves them with two miserable options:
Jack up prices, or
Let the supply dry up entirely.
Both are awful. Both punish gamers and both are the result of reactive strategy, not proactive planning.
But wait! | Mark Kern says there’s MORE trouble brewing
Mark Kern a former Blizzard developer and current chaos gremlin is claiming he’s hearing that internal Xbox leadership is panicking for a totally different reason… ‘oi vey!’
They’re reportedly servicing billions in debt from the Activision Blizzard purchase
They allegedly need to show 30% profit margins
And Game Pass growth hasn’t come close to justifying the insane spending spree
Put those fires together with a global RAM shortage, and you’ve got Xbox leadership “running around with their hair on fire,” according to Kern.
And here’s where We All Should be pissed
Gamers are the ones who get punished every single time. Not the executives. Not the shareholders.
Us.
Kids asking Santa for an Xbox might suddenly be asking for something their parents literally can’t afford.
And remember: Xbox ALREADY raised prices this year.(The Series S $20 while version of the Series X saw $50 and even $70 Increases)
At what point do we stop calling ourselves “customers” and just admit we’re funding Xbox’s bad planning?
If Sony holds their price, or hell even drops it again then Xbox could be in for a brutally long winter.
If true, this is exactly the kind of anti consumer nonsense that drives people away from platforms.
But hey, it's all rumor for now… right?
What do YOU think about another potential Xbox price hike?
