Revie Batman #3 | by Matt Fraction & Jorge Jimenez

After the chaos of last issue, where Batman’s confrontation with the GCPD ended with a tragic death, Batman #3 slows things down, focusing on the fallout rather than the action.

Commissioner Savage is doing everything in his power to paint Batman as Gotham’s ultimate menace, and it might just be working.

Meanwhile, Tim Drake’s personal life takes a turn as his boyfriend(?) becomes suspicious of his constant injuries, and Damian Wayne is, of all things, considering college.

These side stories add flavor, even if they don’t fully connect yet. The main thrust here remains Gotham turning against its protector, and you can feel that narrative tightening its grip.

This issue is definitely more Bruce centric and serves as connective tissue between arcs.

It doesn’t hit on major philosophical themes as it’s about repositioning, not revelation.

Think of it as the quiet before something big explodes.

That said, the art team continues to bring it home. The visuals stay sharp and moody, carrying that cinematic energy from the first two issues.

One highlight comes when the Riddler sneaks into Wayne Enterprises, only to be stopped cold by Batman in a new high-tech stealth suit.

It’s a small but satisfying beat that reminds readers how resourceful Bruce really is.

Overall, Batman #3 isn’t the weakest of the first three issues, but it doesn’t soar as high as issue #2 either.

It’s a solid, grounded entry… more setup than spectacle but it feels like the gears are turning toward something major on the horizon.

Slav’s Take

Sometimes, a good Batman story needs to breathe before it brawls.

Batman #3 might not throw punches like last issue, but it sets the table for a bigger, nastier Gotham showdown. Commissioner Savage is playing the long game and if DC sticks the landing, this arc could turn into something special. Not every chapter needs to scream!.. Some just tighten the noose.
