The Batman Part II: Two-Face Rumors, Joker Returns and a Very Familiar MCU Face

DC

October 2027 is still a ways off, but The Batman Part II is already starting to feel like it’s quietly loading the chamber.

A new rumor making the rounds suggests that Sebastian Stan is being courted by the studio for a role in Matt Reeves’ next Gotham descent. No official word on who he’d play, but fans didn’t take long to connect the dots. The leading theory? Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.

And honestly… that casting would make a scary amount of sense.

A Dent Shaped Puzzle Is Forming

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

This rumor lines up neatly with whispers from a few weeks back claiming Scarlett Johansson was also in talks for a role in the film. Many speculated she could be playing Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife from the comics.

Put those two pieces together and suddenly it feels less like random fan casting and more like a deliberate setup.

Reeves’ Gotham thrives on tragic figures, broken systems and moral decay. Harvey Dent isn’t just another villain. He’s a symbol of hope curdling into rage. A man who believes in the system until the system burns him alive. That fits Reeves’ grounded, noir-soaked world perfectly.

Sebastian Stan also happens to be very good at playing men who slowly fracture under pressure. If Reeves wants a Dent who feels human before he becomes monstrous, Stan could absolutely deliver that arc.

Joker Is Back… Whether You Like It or Not

According to Variety, Barry Keoghan is expected to reprise his role as the Joker in The Batman Part II.

Now, whether that role expands beyond a cameo is still unknown. He could remain a looming presence. He could be a Hannibal-Lecter-style chaos consultant. Or Reeves could decide to unleash him properly.

But let’s be honest. The real question isn’t how much Joker we get.

It’s this… Can they fix the design?

Keoghan’s performance wasn’t the issue. The voice, the menace, the unsettling calm all worked. The look? That’s where things went sideways. The hyper deformed almost zombie-like Joker design felt less “crime prince” and more “accidental chemical spill victim.” Gotham is grotesque, sure, but Joker still needs to feel intentional, not like a jump scare experiment.

A refined look, some restraint, and a clearer visual identity could go a long way in making this Joker land with audiences the second time around.

Reeves Is Building Something Bigger

What’s becoming clear is that Reeves isn’t rushing this sequel. With an October 2027 release, The Batman Part II has time to breathe, evolve and carefully assemble its pieces.

A potential Harvey Dent arc. Gilda Dent (maybe) entering the picture. Joker lurking in the shadows. This doesn’t feel like a sequel chasing spectacle. It feels like a slow burn crime saga expanding outward, layer by layer.

If these rumors pan out, Reeves isn’t just telling another Batman story. He’s building Gotham’s tragedy from the inside out.

And if he sticks the landing? October 2027 might be worth the wait.
