IS ZACK SNYDER RETURNING TO DC FILMS!?
In what is absolutely a curious twist of events, rumors emerged of a “secret” press event at DC Studios on February 21, 2025. Insiders believe that this event is being staged to build momentum ahead of a major news announcement next week, likely centered on a new DC project—or perhaps several projects. The intriguing details were first dropped by YouTuber and scooper Grace Randolph via X, sending ripples through the fandom.

Scoops are not always a definite. Keep that in mind
What makes this development even more fascinating is its uncanny timing. Just one day before these rumors began to spread, James Gunn—who currently serves as Co-Head of DC Studios and is directing the forthcoming Superman movie, shared a photo of himself with Director Zack Snyder. The photo appears to place both filmmakers in the same room where Gunn held a writers’ session for DC Universe projects earlier in the year. This visual coincidence has sparked a flurry of fan theories, with many speculating whether DC Studios might be extending an olive branch to the former DC director. Could this be an invitation for him to rejoin the fold and complete his vision of the so-called ‘SnyderVerse’? While such theories are certainly enticing—and many, including myself, would love to see the #AnimateTheSnyderVerse movement come to life—the reality might be more straightforward.
Back on January 31, 2023, James Gunn unveiled the initial chapter ideas for the DC Universe, dubbing the concept ‘Gods and Monsters.’ It has now been two years since we received a substantial update on the look, feel, and direction of the Universe.
With the upcoming press event, it is highly plausible that Gunn will be providing an updated slate for Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. Fans can likely expect fresh insights on casting, directorial choices, and details on projects that have yet to be officially announced.
As for Zack Snyder’s potential involvement, the odds appear to be about fifty-fifty at this point. He is currently balancing a busy schedule with his Netflix police drama and an upcoming UFC film. Regardless of the specifics, this is unquestionably an exhilarating time to be a DC fan. With Superman on the horizon, Supergirl and the Lanterns in production, and even news of the upcoming Clayface movie, with director James Watkins (Speak No Evil) at the helm, DC’s slate is packed with promise.
Let’s not forget that Peacemaker is also slated to arrive later this year, further underscoring the dynamic future awaiting the DC Universe.
I say, enjoy the ride and speculate responsibly and let me know what you think in the comments.
