Did David Corenswet Just Tip the Bat-Signal?

Who doesn’t love a little theorizing when it comes the the DCU? And honestly? This is the fun kind of DC speculation.

Without a doubt the DCU’s Batman remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in James Gunn’s rebooted universe. No casting. No announcement. Just vibes, rumors, and a fanbase that treats Instagram follows like Zapruder film footage.

That was until David Corenswet, the DCU’s SUPERMAN, decided to spark a little controversy this past week.

Eagley eyed fans noticed that the Man of Tomorrow star recently followed Brandon Sklenar on Instagram.

Yes, Brandon Sklenar who is best known for DROP and Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 and who has been one of the most persistent fan-casts for the DCU’s Bruce Wayne.

Now could this all be coincidence? probably.

But can we as fans use this as fuel for speculation? Absolutely.

Corenswet is without a doubt the centerpiece of the DCU going forward. So when Superman starts following someone heavily linked to Batman, fans are naturally going to connect dots… whether those dots deserve connecting or not.

Bu let’s pumped those breaks on the Batmobile a bit as we look at it from another angle.

Actors and filmmakers do sometimes follow collaborators before projects are officially announced. That’s not conspiracy talk as it’s happened plenty of times before. So in a purely theoretical sense? Sure, it’s possible this means something.

But let’s also acknowledge reality that Corenswet follows roughly 500 accounts on Instagram. Many of them have nothing to do with DC, Batman, or Warner Bros. He could’ve followed Sklenar because he liked his work, saw an interview, or binged 1923 like the rest of us.

In other words, maybe we don’t blow this out of proportion. Still though… speculation exists for a reason.

So what does Brandon Sklenar himself think about the idea of wearing the cowl?

Back in April 2025, speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Sklenar didn’t exactly shy away from the conversation. In fact, he leaned into it.

"I have my own ideas on the character, if that ever comes to fruition. He was my favorite comic book character as a child, and he's superior because he is a real man. I think there's a lot more to explore there, and there's a way to do it that makes it very real. So, if it ever comes around, I would gladly take that torch, and I would not take it lightly."

For now, it’s a waiting game and one DC Studios is clearly comfortable playing. Batman will reveal himself when the time is right.

Until then, fans will keep watching social media like it’s canon.

The next DC Studios film, Supergirl, flies into theaters on June 26, 2026. While production on Man of Tomorrow begins in April. And I’d have to believe that somewhere between now and then… the Dark Knight will finally step out of the shadows.
